About Us.
As a proud affiliate of the National College Learning Center Association (NCLCA), the Wisconsin College Learning Center Association (WCLCA) offers members the opportunity to connect, collaborate, learn from, and share experiences with other professionals in our field within our geographic area.
In 1985, the Midwest College Learning Center Association (MCLCA) originated in Wisconsin. MCLCA became the National College Learning Center Association (NCLCA) in 1997. The Wisconsin Learning Assistance Network (WLAN), after ten years of supporting the state's learning centers, became the Wisconsin College Learning Center Association (WCLCA) in 2016.
The Wisconsin College Learning Center Association (WCLCA) is an affiliate of the International College Learning Center Association (ICLCA). The purpose of the organization is to create a network of college learning support professionals in postsecondary institutions operating in Wisconsin. |
Objectives of WCLCA.
Support learning assistance professionals as they develop and maintain learning centers, programs, and services to enhance student learning at the postsecondary level
Promote professional standards in the areas of administration and management, program, curriculum design, evaluation and research Act on learning assistance issues at the state and local levels Assist in the creation of new learning centers and programs and enhance existing learning centers and programs Provide opportunities for professional development, networking, and idea exchange through conferences, workshops, institutes, and publications Coordinate efforts with related professional associations and offer forums for celebrating, supporting, and promoting the profession. |
